April Claggett Art Show
Open on Mondays & Wednesdays, 10am-noon & during other events
April Claggett will be the featured artist at the Dublin Community Center during the month of September. The DubHub is located at 1123 Main Street in Dublin. The DubHub requests that all visitors wear face masks while viewing the show. Refreshments will be served outdoors. For more information email email@example.com.
This show is comprised of selections from the series called Entanglements. In these paintings from Southern Africa, the people and animals she met there are fictionally reunited in a sort of reverse ecological apartheid. Some works allow the beauty of it all to be troubled by the residue of political turmoil stretching back into colonialism.
After decades of parenting, teaching, farming, and community building, April Claggett has been practicing painting, drawing and art scholarship full time. The imposed abstraction at the nexus of a more-or-less two dimensional surface and representational imagery interests her. Her current scholarly interests are with contemporary practices that include art production and display, media theory and the role of the creative process in human society. She is currently Lecturer of Art and Art History at Anna Maria College. For more information go to http://aprilclaggett.com.
